Moving along with the old Uhaul..

Well - it has not and continues to not be easy to get this big bastard ready to go ..

Two fuel leaks , glow plugs not working , roof leak , transmission having massive issues , door handle broke off , tires with no miles left on them ,smoking like a chimney....

Just about all is fixed , Starts and runs great . Two of the six tires are done , glow plugs working perfect , transmission is better - but still needs some work , got a part on the way . New fuel lines where needed . The roof isn't leaking a drop anymore . Fresh filters and fluids - I will carry on - UBI in Ashland , OR is a few weeks away and I'm bound and determined to be there and then take this with all my motorcycles and tools on the next adventure....

Bucket List

Well , no new projects or builds . I am working hard on getting ready for the big move back down to the States and preparing for some adventure . I have been working in the shop - but not on anything worth taking pictures of..... I am crossing some last things off my Skagway bucket list though... Went camping last weekend in the Yukon & hung out in Dyea in the sun yesterday ....

Today , I'm gonna get a big ass pizza from the R.O

I read through hundreds of blogs a week . Blogs have replaced my magazine subscriptions . I can read about anything I'm interested in that day usually written in a personal , candid way - soon I'm gonna put links to all my favorites on here .
Anyway - I probably have a thousand pictures saved on my computer that I dig- from various web sites with various subject matter . Here are a couple that I think are cool ..

Garage Sale success

The Garage Sale this weekend went great ! Made lots of room , sold lots of stuff . I advertised the sale from 10am - 4 pm early birds welcome , by 10:45 a huge amount of items were sold ! by 2 o'clock I pulled the signs from bulletin boards and closed the doors ! Nice weather and other events in town were a bonus too .
This was half the stuff we started with ! We also had some bicycles , motorcycles, furniture, plants and lawn mowers outside and a table full of stuff on the other side of the garage.

Some of the stuff that didn't sell will be posted on SKAGWAY SWAP page on Facebook , the rest is packed away for the next big sale in July .

Shovelheads

This Shovelhead was The one I was buying . After taking my sweet ass time dealing with the seller - it sold . Blessing in diguise I guess - because I bought this one from the same seller and I really do dig it.

Tires Wanted !

Maintenance is cheaper than repairs !

I've said it a million times , I'm sure. Maintenance is key to saving money in the long run . I just bought this truck and it is hurtin' ! It would not start easy - it ran like shit . After some routine maintenance - I found a broken wire causing the glow plugs to not work , the oil was like water and the transmission fluid was low causing some hard shifting . The worst thing I found was the fuel filter - take a look ....
I don't know when is was changed last , but $23 is a small price to pay considering this could put you on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck .
I work on a lot of old junk and no matter if its a bicycle , motorcycle , diesel truck or a toilet - maintenance is cheaper than a repair !
This stuff ain't that hard - if you don't know how to do it - look it up online !! If you still feel it's still beyond you , support a local shop and your ride will support you .
Stop spending hard earned money on something new and take care of the stuff you have  . I find lots of good stuff at the dump simply because people do not take a few minutes to learn to fix a problem . You will feel rewarded with some new knowledge and working with your hands as well as have a few extra bucks for some beer.....

Bicycle tubes / jewelry

We end up with parts that are not fit for use on a bike anymore, but we're always looking to save stuff from the trash - here are some earings made by Kati out of bicycle tubes ....

Cool huh ? more to come - stay tuned.....

Specialized Rockhopper

Stock bike - replaced front suspension with some aluminum rigid forks and swapped out the tires for some 1.95 smooth tread to better fit my everyday ride...

Bianchi Avenue

Well the old Bianchi Avenue is on the road . This frame has been hanging around the last three shops . Surprising too - there was nothing special about it . I've tossed lots of frames - but for some reason kept this .
Anway - I still need to find a 27" front rim and perhaps put some rear brakes on , but otherwise it rides sweet and gets me to work in a quick. With a 52 front and a 16 rear - I won't be climbing any hills - but its a flat ride from home to the liquor store - And this bike gets me there in record time .

I think I might keep this one around - I dont know why but I really like riding it.

4/3/12

Warm days , Choppers and Alaska

First ride out on the Ironhead today ! I've taken the Shovelhead out for a few short rides allready - but it was sweet to pull out my first love , charge the battey and fire her up . It looks like it's heading over to the Kenai to her new owner soon , so while I was giving it a once over - I could not help but take it around a bit . Sad to see it go - but theres other things brewing right now.

Still looking for a small bus or delivery truck - if anyone has anything - hit me up !

4/1/12

Bianchi Avenue

Well , my Raleigh build is a no go for now . Some frame issues and the fact that it is a little to big is gonna push it to the back burner - Since I allready had a bunch of parts for it - I decided to yank this old Bianchi frame out of storage - should be able to get close to done today - the rest of the parts will be in by next week .
